2. Titanium alloy plasticity is small, which significantly affects its plastic deformation during cutting. The deformation coefficient of titanium alloy is only 1 or even less than 1, while the deformation coefficient of ordinary carbon steel is about 3. When cutting, the chip has a very small contact surface with the front tool surface, so that the contact area pressure and local temperature are high, and the tool wear is fast. When C>0.2%, titanium alloy will form hard carbide, so that the tool wear, so that the machinability is reduced.
3. Titanium alloy is difficult to machinability, the main factors affecting the machinability of materials, generally causes poor machinability of difficult materials are mainly the following possible factors: material contains high hardness particles; High hardness or high temperature hardness; Large work hardening; Poor thermal conductivity, high cutting temperature; High material strength, especially high temperature strength; Easy to bond with the tool; High chemical activity; Quilt processing materials may be due to the influence of one or more of the above factors, resulting in poor machinability.
4. The elastic modulus of titanium alloy is small, and it is easy to produce bending deformation under the action of radial force during processing, causing vibration, increasing tool wear and affecting the accuracy of parts. Therefore, it is required that the process system should have good rigidity. The cooling phenomenon is serious: due to the large chemical activity of titanium, at high cutting temperatures, it is easy to absorb oxygen and nitrogen in the air to form a hard and brittle skin; At the same time, plastic deformation in the cutting process will also cause surface hardening. The chilling phenomenon will not only reduce the fatigue strength of the parts, but also aggravate the tool wear, which is a very important feature when cutting titanium alloys. Tool easy to wear: After the blank is processed by stamping, forging, hot rolling and other methods, it forms a hard and brittle uneven skin, which is easy to cause the breaking edge phenomenon, making the cutting of the hard skin the most difficult process in the processing of titanium alloy.
